The Last Love

Authors note: This is about what I predict is going to happen in the book A Walk to Remember, by Nickolas Sparks. I am over half way through the book and I will tell what I think is going to happen in the end.

Imagine loving someone for the first time and all you want is to be with them for the rest of your life. Everything is going perfect, until suddenly your whole world comes crashing to the ground with a few single words. In my book, a Walk to Remember by Nickolas Sparks that is what happens. At first it seemed like it was going to be a perfect love story about two young people, but then again, in almost every other love story something goes wrong.

What is different in this book from other books I have read by Nickolas Sparks:  is that it seems like the ending will be much different. I don’t think that in the end everything will be okay. From the way the other books I have read, the people are separated by something like in The Notebook, and Dear John. They usually they always come back to each other in the end, but I feel like in this book whatever happens will be permanent.

Jamie would often bring up what they wanted their future to be like. When Jamie talked about her dreams she always seems as if though they would never come true. I don’t think that Jamie’s sickness will go away, things like that don’t happen very often and most of the time it just gets worse. It already seemed like she knew she was going to die she just accepted it and no matter what happened in her life she would always say “It is the lords plan”. She knew that his plan for her was to live a great life and die at a young age, but she would go on remembered, she wasn’t just a nobody, she changed peoples’ lives for the better. I think that Landon will never get over her and will remember her throughout his life with the same love he had when she was actually there with him.

Promises

Authors Note: I wrote about the conflicts in the book The Notebook by Nickolas Sparks and how they over came the problems they had.

Most of the conflicts were caused by Allie's parents. They didn't think Noah, Allie's boyfriend, was good enough for their daughter, so they tried a lot of things to keep them apart. Allie and her family left town early to keep her and Noah away from each other. Her mother would hide Noah's daily letters from Allie thinking that she would be better off not seeing them. In the end, they couldn't do anything to keep these soul mates apart.

Noah and Allie were very much in love, but nearly lost each other because of what other people thought.  They find the strength to be with each other as soul mates. As they got older Allie slowly gets  Alzheimer’s disease. Noah’s love draws her out and keeps them together. Noah had a stroke at eighty years old, he reads Allie’s final letter again and is reminded of the promise she made when she found out she had Alzheimer’s; she would try every way she could  to overcome the disease and be with him in the end. Noah went to Allie’s room late at night even though most of the time when she sees him she rarely remembers who he is. He only wanted to leave a poem under her pillow, but instead kisses her. This made her to wake up and she recognize Noah, he was glad that he has come back to her. In the end that they die there together, just as Allie promised him.

Changing

Authors Note: This essay shows how one person can change ho another person chooses to live their life just by steering them in the right direction.

Imagine yourself as a young person who doesn't have much of a future ahead of them. You have one family member and you barley even speak to one another. The only thing you see yourself doing is joining the army be because its the one thing you might be good at..

John was a rebel and never cared what anyone thought of him. He realized he didn't have much of a future ahead of himself and he decided he didn't just want to be nothing,  Because he didn’t do very good in school, he went into the army. He didn't really have a family he just had his father who didn’t talk a lot and when he did it was about his coin collection. Besides his dad, John didn’t have anyone, until he met Savannah, the girl of his dreams and would change his life forever.

In the army John really matured and got his life together. He took responsibility and looked out for other people. When he went home on his lave he saw old friends and realized if he hadn’t of gone into the army he would of ended up just like them, in their twenties with no job still living with their parents. Even though John didn’t have a house of his own he still took care of himself.

John and his dad didn't really have a good relationship, when John was younger him and his dad shared one same interest, coins. They would go and trade and find new coins together, but as John got older he wasn't really interested in coins anymore and it was still the only thing his dad talked about. John got annoyed because he didn't want to hear about them. He told his dad this and after that they only said a few words to each other.

When John met Savannah it didn’t only change his life it changed him too. He was a better person and more thoughtful and caring. When he was with her he knew right from wrong and she helped him understand his dad more and made their relationship better. John learned to listen to his dad talk about coins because Savannah made him realize that was the only thing his dad felt comfortable talking about. When Savannah moved on while he was in the army he didn't really think about himself he wanted her to be happy, even though it killed him inside to see her with someone else it was what she wanted and he accepted that.

Heroes

Author's Note: This essay will tell you how our country works together to fight for that we believe in.

Millions of courageous men and women have served and protected their country in times of conflict. Those heroic people put their life on the line to save our country and bring us freedom. It shows how much patriots care for our country, when we see all the brave people that volunteer to go fight for our country. It shows us there are people out there who care for everyone. No matter how hard some things might be for people in the army but they never give up on our country.

More than 650,000 American lives have been lost; more than 1.4 million service members wounded in battle. We remember and honor all that these heroes have sacrificed for America’s freedom. Many people have crushed hopes and dreams from trying to save our country. A lot of families have lost loved ones in war, but all the people lost in war are remembered forever as a hero and will never be forgotten throughout the history of our country. Most patriots go to war knowing there is a big chance they won’t come back but everyone hopes for the best. A lot of young men leave behind their wives and all their plans for the future for when they come back from war, often people have plans for the future that don’t always work out.

In the United States we encourage each other’s choices even though sometimes they aren’t the right ones. Anyone who leaves their life as they know it to go fight for people they don’t even know but care about just as much as people close to them in their lives are the true heroes of America. These great humans give up their life for us. Many leave their growing families to help our country. The people who fight for us are the reason why we have freedom to make our own decisions and why a lot of people can do things we would have never imagined without freedom in our country. I want to say thank you to all the brave soldiers that are out there fighting for our freedom and saving our country.

The Hunger Games

Authors Note: This is my conflict and resolution piece for the book The Hunger Games. This piece shows what happens in the Hunger Games and how things would be different if they hadn't happened.

The book the hunger games is based on North America in the future and they have 12 different districts and one capital. Every year the Capitol of Panem hosts an event called the Hunger Games where two "tributes" – a boy and a girl – are drafted from each of the twelve districts to be brought to an arena and fight to the death, only one person can win. This is to remind the country not to rebel and for entertainment. This year, unfortunately, Katniss's little sister is selected for the Hunger Games, so Katniss volunteers to take her place.

If Katniss didn’t volunteer for prim there would be no chance of her surviving because unlike Katinss, Pirm didn’t hunt and didn’t really care to be outside so she mainly helped her mother with nursing sick people. If Katniss wasn’t there for the whole thing Peeta probably wouldn’t of tried to win in the hunger games because he wouldn’t of had anything to fight for, but because he told everyone that he loved Katniss they were expected to be together and fight together to the end.

The Last Song

Authors Note: This is my cause and effect piece for the book The Last Song. This shows what things happened in the book The Last Song and how they effected the things that went on throughout the story.

The main conflict in the book “The Last Song” is Ronnie has to spend the summer with her father that she hasn’t talked to for three years. While she is there she has to deal with all the emotions for Will, her new love throughout the summer. As she is focused on Will and the fact that they are going to completely different collages she finds out her father has stomach cancer only has so long to live. Ronnie finds it hard to forgive her father after her parents divorce and blames him for the separation.

The resolution of this book is after Ronnie realizes there is nothing else she can do to help her father’s fate, she finds playing the piano helps her always have a connection with her father, and forgive him and get over all the hate. This made her father happy while helping him hang on to life a little longer. Ronnie is going to Julliard and Will changes schools to be with her. She realizes Will loves her for who she is and doesn’t try to change her.

TJ

“ TJ is dead”. The words lingered in my mind as my whole body went numb I fell to the ground, my mom’s arms wrapped around me. Sobbing we both sat there, I had a million questions but I couldn't find the words; even if I did have the words I couldn't speak them. I couldn't process the thought. It felt like a bad dream but as I sat there it all became more real to me. One of the only people I could tell everything to was gone forever.  As I sat there it never hit me that the closest thing I had to a brother was gone just like that.

The words played over and over again in my head. Those are some of that last words that I thought I would ever have to hear, I wish I hadn't of had to hear them either. The pain still sinking in, I thought about all the funny things that made TJ such a fun person to be around. I thought about how he was just about to start living his life when suddenly he had no life to live. I thought of the last time I saw him and I could just play the scene in my head. I realized I couldn't just go to his house whenever I wanted just to talk to him, I can’t hear his joyful laugh that when you hear it you can’t help but laugh with him. He just made me happy whenever I was around him.

Before all of this happened I remember thinking about how sad I was going to be when he went off to college this year. Now he went away but never came back. My life will never be the same without him here, every time I’m outside doing something I turn around expecting him to be standing there waving at me with his skateboard in hand and his purple hat that made his hair look like a vibrant orange. That’s how I remember him the last time I saw his face and the last time I talked to him.

That morning I could tell there was something wrong when I saw his mom standing by my back door she just looked lost but I didn't talk to her because my mom answered the door. Awhile after his mom came to my door I heard my mom come back in and she called me down, usually she would just yell up to me and tell me what she needed or something , but I could tell it was different as I slowly walked down the stairs and saw her crying my last thought would have been that he had died.  As the words that came out it stung my ears. People say you never know what you have until you have lost it, but I knew what I had I just never thought I would lose it, he was supposed to be there with me through everything. That day realizing he was out of my life killed me inside but no matter what he will still in my memories forever.

New Things

Authors note: Changes can just change little things in your life. There are other changes like moving, it can change your life forever.

I was born on December 31st 1998 in Colorado Springs. I lived in the same house for eight years. I had many friends in the same neighborhood; most of them were a lot older than me but all of them were like family to me. So in the eight years in that house I switched schools. I had a lot of friends from my old school and ones from my new school. I hung out with all of them. Then the summer going into the third grade my family came to Wisconsin for about 2 weeks to visit my dad’s whole family. What I didn’t know at the time, the other reason we were there was so my dad should go in for a interview at a new job. The reason he needed to get a new job fast was that the place here he used t work would be shutting down in a matter of a few weeks. When we got back to Colorado after visiting Wisconsin we had 2 weeks to get our whole house packed up and move to Wisconsin. It was a big change but I’m glad that I got to have a experience of living
in these two states. I miss living there and I miss some of my old friends, but if I never moved to Wisconsin I would have never met any of my friends I have now.

Cell Phones

Authors Note's: Phones are useful and they keep getting better and more helpful and more reliable.

Cell phones are used for a lot of things, like calling people or texting. you can play games on them and take pictures when you don’t have a camera. They are coming out with many new phones that have even more different abilities then the phones 2 years ago. A lot of the new phones are touch screen and they don’t have any new phones that are flip phones, they just keep improving what they look like and what they do to help people.

Summer Days

Authors Notes: Thinking about how close summer is but realizing how slow the days are going to go by.

Imagine laying on a soft beach towel with the fluffy white sand below you. The sun coming down on you. Feeling the warm summer breeze against your skin. The spray of the waves crashing on the beach.hearing the sound of seagulls circling around the entire beach. You lay there soaking up the sun, you scan the surface of the ocean and you see a few dolphins jumping out of the water, it’s a perfect day to be on the beach.

Fantasies

Authors notes: Though things are brought up a lot in books and in movies doesn’t mean they are real.

Fantasies involve  unicorns and other mystical creatures. They are things that will never be real. Most little kids fantasize about things like unicorns or castles and magical things and what it would be like to be older. But they soon realize there are other more important things to think about, like when school gets harder and everything is more complicated. Most people when they were little all they could think about is being older and being free but as we get older all we want to do is be little again and to have no worries.

District 12

Imagine walking through the woods not knowing what could be hiding anywhere nearby. The only thing you can hear is your own footsteps on the forest floor covered in leaves and the mocking birds singing high up in the trees. They’re safe from all danger in the woods, they can see everything coming but everything you can see is blocked by a wall of trees. Every move you make is a risk, you never know if you are safe. Just waiting for someone or something lurking in the woods to come out and kill you. This is how Katniss felt as a part of these cruel games, called “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. In these games there are 2 teenagers from 12 different districts, all 24 of these kids are put in an arena to fight to the death until there is just one left standing.

With this series of books it can have any type of reader, weather you are a boy or a girl the book will draw you in right away with how upfront it is and how well detailed it is. The difference with this book from other books is that with this one there is never a boring part, there is always something happening. In other books there is always apart where nothing is really happening and in those parts you have no interest in the book. In my opinion I would say this is my favorite book and I can’t wait to start reading the next one in the series. It keeps your mind going thinking of things that could happen to the tributes.

If this were to happen to us no one would find the games entertaining, everyone would find it gruesome to watch people you know die in this kind of way. You don’t really think about things in the book while you are reading it. In this book learned that the relationship you have with your family is important because it might be the main reason you fight through until the end. Without her family Katniss probably would of just gave up when she got hurt, she would have thought she had nothing to live for. Through the words of this novel there is another story being told.

Alaska Drilling

Authors Note's: If workers drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, also known as ANWR it would ruin the natural environment.

Imagine walking across the chilled arctic floor; your sharp claws hitting the ground with every step, then suddenly you stop and you are standing in a puddle of smelly liquid that covers the ground. You look around and all you see is big machines and men with long tubes that are attached to the ground. You wonder what they are doing and why they are destroying the land, you realize you can't stay there any longer; there is no sign of any other life around. Then you think about what it used to be like when you would be walking around on white clean snow and hear crashes from big glaciers falling and you would see polar bears, but not all you see is melting snow and men working. There is no more polar bears because they were driven out of their homes by all the drilling going on. That's how the animals that live in AWNR would feel if people were drilling where their homes are in Alaska. They would all have to find somewhere else to go where they would be safe.

Drilling in ANWR for oil is a very bad idea, one reason being it will destroy a large amount the wild life. The thing that would be most affected by the drilling would be the environment. The oil could leak anywhere and be carried in streams and that would hurt the natural environment. Nothing people say can change the fact that the workers would be destroying the clean untouched environment. Just exposing oil to the environment could hurt it. Which is part of the reason why I think that everyone should just deal with the amount of oil that we have. All of the oil isn't gone so there is no point in getting more oil when we still have some.

This whole thing would be different if it was all dead and not a wild life refuge, but it is made for wild life not to be destroyed by people trying to find more of what we already have plenty of. It gets us nowhere when we find more oil, the gas prices won't go down because it is still expensive because it is a high demand in most countries in the US.

This piece of land is called Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for a reason, it is meant for wild life. Not to be destroyed by people looking for oil. If it was really worth drilling for this oil there wouldn't be so much question behind weather to drill for the oil or not.

Revenge

Authors Note's: Trust is a big part in a friendship, but once that trust is broken nothing can change that. You question everything and you aren't sure who you can trust.

Dylan, Kristen, Alicia and Massie Block, also known as the “clique,” are the most popular girls in Octavian Country Day School. The Clique Best Friends for Never by "Lisi Harrison" shows that everything may not be the way it seems. In different situations some people work things out by talking but not this group of friends, they get back at each other with revenge. Some people go too far and lead everything in a new direction. All of the friends don't realize what they have until it is all gone.

Massie has a perfect life, she has everything a girl wants. She thinks she has three best friends, Kristen, Alicia, and Dylan… But this is about to change, one of her best friends is going to become her worst enemy and her worst enemy is going to become one of her best friends. This spectacular, insanely entertaining book is filled with melodramatic conflicts, it is a book in which you will be over-blown by the circumstances taking place at their school.

Massie Block is the leader of this group of girls, and everyone loves her. Everyone copies Massie’s styles. Instead of getting mad, Massie feels proud that she starts so many trends, but she is most happy when she ends them. The clique - the only thing harder than getting in, is staying in. This becomes true when Massie Block has the first ever boy/girl Halloween party at her all-girl middle school.

These four girls have the perfect lives until a Halloween costume incident leaves everyone hating them. They realize that they have to fix this problem, but it may leave them hating each other along the way.

The Outsider

Authors Note: The Clique shows that if someone doesn’t like you for you and you have to change yourself for them to like you they aren’t your true friend.

Imagine moving away from all your old friends and everything you had growing up to move to a snotty rich kid school and live in the most popular girl’s guest house. For Claire Lyons this was all true. At first she thought Massie would be a nice sweet girl and that they would be friends, but she realized the harder she tried to fit in with the popular group the more they would reject her. She has to make new friends but at the same time she tries to make it seem like she doesn’t care about being friends with the most popular girls in the school.

Whenever Claire tried to fit in with them they would make her life miserable, they made fun of her and did not include her in anything they did. Nothing she did was right to them, even if they liked what she said or did they would put her ideas down and make a better one. Claire tried too hard to be approved by Massie and all of her friends, she didn’t realize she could make friends that would like her for her and not making her live up to the approval of them.

Some of the things in the Clique could actually happen in someone’s life. There are 7 books in this series so it’s not like other books where the book just ends, these keep going with new things happening throughout all the books. Most of the people that read this book are girls but boys could read them if they really wanted to. This book shows that if people aren’t nice to you then you shouldn’t be their friend, if they were a true friend she wouldn’t have to try that hard to fit in with them.

Books in this series show the excitement of moving and meeting new people; it also shows how sad it is to leave everything behind that you knew before. Things she does with her new friends reminds her of the things she used to do with her old friends. In a way this book shows that it’s important to move on in your life but to cherish the things in your past.

Summer Adventures

Author's Note: Over this summer many interesting things have happened, they all happened to be when I was with Emily.

One warm day me and Emily were on her pier tanning and we got bored so we were just randomly standing on the edge of the pier to see how long we could balance. And I got off balance and she grabbed my arm and I swung with my feet still on the pier and Emily reaching out to pull me back up. Then I made it all the way to the other side of Emily and I hit a pole and fell in the warm lake water. I was trying not to choke on water as I was cracking p under the water. I was tangled in the long weeds and when finally got up out of the water we just decided to go swimming and floatie surfing.

Dreams

Author's Note: If you dream about doing something the only thing that matters is if you make it come true

           "The only dreams that matter
              are the ones that happen
              when you are awake."

This quote shows that the dreams you have when you are sleeping won't matter unless you make them come true. Most people only think of dreams when they are sleeping, they don't think of making them come true. They won't just happen you have to work hard to make them come true.

Process Of Flat-screen TV

Authors Note: I wrote about the 32 inch fla-screen TV I got for Christmas, it went through a lot before i opened it on Christmas morning.

I could feel the touch of all the hands on me, adding parts to the inside of my screen. All the cords and wires were finally all installed and I felt totally alive. Then I hear the power drills putting the cold new screws into my back so I was all one piece. Then all of the sudden there was so much motion, I was being carried by a man who set me in a box filled with white padding. I was on a big cart with many other boxes, and then we were all put in a big truck. And it all went dark when the big doors slammed shut. I could feel the vibration of the truck starting; it started to pull forward slowly.

After awhile of sitting in the dark the truck stopped. The doors swung open and let in the blinding light from the morning sun. I was one of the first boxes to get put on a big cart, I got pushed through two swinging doors and through aisles and I saw a bunch of other boxes with pictures of different things like me. There were things smaller then me and things that were two times my size. There were people walking around everywhere. I didn’t know what to think of it, I saw people hauling big boxes out of the automatic sliding doors. Next thing I knew I was set on a big shelf with a few boxes in front of me.

I realized what was going on as I kept moving up the live to the first box. People would take the box in the front and take it with them, wherever they were going… I would soon find out! I was now in the front of all the other boxes. I immediately saw a mad coming my way, He looked at me closely then he reached out and picked me up. It was so exciting. I was finally going to find out where the people take us after they take us out of the store. Then I got set down, I was confused I didn’t understand why he set me back down. It was quiet, then I heard a loud beep and I was carried out of the store by the man. He was walking towards a black car. He opened the back of the car and set me carefully inside, he made sure the door was close and he went to a different door and got in. I felt the same vibration as I did before. Before I knew it we drove away.

It was a short drive, we were stopped in a dark place. And then he opened the back door and pulled me out of the car and carried me inside. He set me on a big piece of paper and pulled each side over me and it stuck there then he pulled the sides over and all I could see now was white paper. A couple of days later I was taken out of a closet where he put me after he wrapped me and the paper. I was being carried upward and then I was set down by something that had lights all over it, I could faintly see the colorful lights through the paper that was surrounding me.

I figured whatever was happening wouldn’t be bad so I just sat there then it started to get brighter the longer I was sitting there. All the sudden the paper surrounding me was being taken off the box I had been in for quite some time now. It was a girl, she looked happy and excited, I saw the man that had brought me here. He was smiling at her joy when she opened my box. That day I was set up and put on a stand and He plugged me into more cords and then he turned me on. It was an exciting day for me and the girl.
